Is it safe to use a body fat scale if I have an IUD?
dizzigirl posted:
I recently purchased a scale that measures your body fat percentage (by sending a mild electronic current through your body). The instructions said not to use it if you have a pacemaker, or any other kind of metal implant, including "contraceptive appliances". I have a copper IUD. Is this seriously a problem? I realize that it might throw off the scale results, but it won't harm the IUD or me, right?

This particular scale simply said "don't use it if you have any sort of implant" but the website of a similar product said that it was safe to use with "non-electronic" metal implants.

I know this sounds silly, but I just want to be sure! Thanks.
