health risks of long-term use of birth control pill

What are the risks of continuing on with the pill as my birth control method? I have been on it for over 20 years, with one year laps of when I had my son. Are there health risks to stay on it, or do some people decide to switch to permanent birth control just for convenience of not forgeting to take the pill?
