Hey there Gail!
nic14120 posted:
Ok so some follow- up. I had my CBC done and Vit D from my physical before I knew I was preg. The results showed:
Red blood-4.88
Platelet 203
Vit D 16
They said all was in range and that the vit d is very low. So I am waiting to see what the OB will consider safe and a good amount to take for the pregnancy needs.
If there was a concern for Malabsorption, would that impact any of these results by chance? Also, I have spotted during both prev pregnancies, and yesterday I began at this one. I went for a scan and measured about 5 weeks and only saw the sac. I go back next week and pray more developed and all is ok! Do you know if there is any chance that excessive coughing could irritate the cervix to cause spotting, because I have a terrible cough and coughing hard and non stop since Sat! Thanks again!
georgiagail responded:
It would be very unusual that coughing would cause spotting. You said you have a history of spotting during previous pregnancies so this sound normal for you. Hopefully the follow up visit next week will show better results.

You don't have malabsorption issues. We went through all of that already and because you are urinating out pretty colors from the supplementation you have realized that yes, you are absorbing the supplements you are consuming.

nic14120 replied to georgiagail's response:
Thank you! One thing I have been told in the past is that I have a friable cervix. Do you know if one can have a friable cervix as early as 5 weeks?
georgiagail replied to nic14120's response:
Sure. A friable cervix is simply one where (usually the skin on the cervix) bleeds easily. You don't have to be pregnant to have a friable cervix.
