Swelling of labia minora

I'm not completely sure where to start with this, so I guess I'll begin with my symptoms: the right side of my labia minora is swollen, my entire labia minora is itchy and irritated, whenever I urinate, the urine burns my labia minora, and my lymph nodes around the pubic area are swollen and hurt a little. I have razor bumps around my labia majora from shaving. I also had sexual intercourse the day before the swelling began. I went to my gynocologist yesterday after two days of this irritation and she told me it is all from shaving. I know she is the doctor and she knows way more about medicine than I ever will, but I'm in such pain and discomfort I can't walk, work, sleep, shower, use the bathroom or anything that requires me to move my body. While I was there, my doctor diagnosed me with bacterial vaginosis due to a minor surgical procedure I had two months ago on my cervix. I worry because the pain of my labia and lymph nodes has not subsided, but has proceded to get worse. I was prescribed Flagyl for the vaginosis. Am I paranoid or should I go back? If anyone has any clue as to what is going on with me, please help! Thank you!

Recently I had sex and afterwards the glands on the right inner side of my vaginal wall have swollen greatly. Everyone told me not to douche so I tried everything. Creams, Flagyl, Petroleum jelly and nothing worked. Then one night I got so sick and tired of the pain that was constant and discomfort that I broke down and douched. To my surprise the pain was almost not there anymore and the swelling went down a great bit. Goes to show that nobody is alike so doctors can't necessarily always tell you whats wrong. I was experiencing almost the same exact thing as you.

I would urge every woman who considers douching to read this article: Vaginal Douching - Helpful or Harmful?

We have other articles of interest that may be found by entering "douche" (quotes not necessary) in the search box at the top of the page.

Hope this is helpful.

I posted last week about something similar. My left labia was swollen, red and painful. It only happened during my period and after i stopped menstruating, it went away. Anyway, you know YOUR body better than a doctor will, if u think something is not right then u need to get a second opinion. I found that sitting in a cool bath helps with the pain and discomfort for me.
