Hi:
Well, from time-to-time, I get palpitations (**see PVC info below) only when I'm just about to enter the sleep cycle or in the beginning of sleep cycle, a so-called, sleep-induced arrhythmia, according to my doctor.
I had to undergo a sleep study to confirm this, and then have some non-invasive diagnostic tests performed, which in my particular indivdualized situation/case, showed that there was nothing structurally or electrically wrong with my heart.

**As applicable, the most common type of palpitations, premature ventricular contractions (PVCs, occurs even in many heart-healthy individuals), which has various causes or triggers, cardiac and non-cardiac, is described that the heart is flip-flopping, fluttering, jumping, pausing or stopping briefly (though it's actually not doing that), pounding, skipping, thumping, or strong,
HARD or forceful beats being felt in the chest, neck, or throat, Often, PVCs are harmless.

http://www.hrspatients.org/patients A vibration, or buzzing feeling/sensation in the chest/thoracic area ALWAYS warrants checking for possible problems that can involve the heart's electrical conduction system, i.e., irregular heartbeat/arrhythmia or a heart valve. There may/can also be non-cardiac related issues, though uncommon, such as rapid-fire muscle spasms.
Of the different types/kinds of heart conditions, various symptoms may/can be acute (occurring suddenly), be chronic (occurring over a long period of time), come and go (be transient, fleeting or episodic,
such as an irregular heartbeat, requiring the use of Holter monitor or event recorder at home and during daily activities) or even be silent.
Medical rule of thumb, report
any bothersome, concerning, troublesome, worrisome, worsening or new symptom(s) to a/your doctor promptly.
Best of luck down the road of life. Live long and prosper.
Take care,
