Hello, I been diagnosed with Global Hypokinesis with an Ejection fraction of 30-35%. I thought I was a healthy 43yr old male. What does this mean? Is there a cure?

James Beckerman, MD, FACC responded:
Your test (I'm guessing an echocardiogram) suggests that your heart is beating overall about half as efficiently as it should be (a normal EF is 55-75%). There are many different possible causes which might include coronary artery disease. Depending on the cause, there are some medical treatments and some invasive treatments that could be helpful - it sounds like you should be seeing a cardiologist to pursue this further. Take care.
