How long after open heart surgery does depression sets in? Also, how long will depression continue to attack?
cardiostarusa1 responded:

In general, it really depends on the individual, as it may/can be immediately after the surgery, several days to several weeks later, or in some cases, even several months later (especially if there has been complications, slowing/hampering recovery).

Depression (which may/can also be a side effect from drugs) is common, happens in many individuals with cardiac-related conditons, and depression often can be effectively treated and defeated, sometimes with the help of professional counseling, or resolving all on its own in time (which is a variable).
