    Congenital Heart Disease..

My fiance was born with congenital heart disease. Wasn't supposed to make past 2 days old. He had three open heart surgeries as an infant/toddler and was on several medications. Is it possible that he is unable to have kids because of this? He seems to think he is infertile/sterile.

"He seems to think he is infertile/sterile."

    Why is that?

Because he thinks congenital heart disease/defects can do that? Perhaps a cause and effect from the medications? Other?

I was born with an ASD (atrial-septal defect, or "hole in the heart") and it was repaired in open heart surgery when I was 10. Now, at 46, I just had my bicuspid aortic valve replaced with a nifty mechanical model.

I am the father of two children.

He could be sterile, but not because of heart disease. Those functions are over a foot away from each other.

In general, I would be surprised if congenital heart disease corrected with surgery would be associated with infertility. Fortunately, this is something that can be checked pretty easily with his doctor.
