Ectasia diagnosis

Hi all - I just completed a full round of heart tests (nuclear stress test, echo, cardiac cath, etc). All is fine except for a diagnosis of ectasia. The cardiologist said he'd need to keep an eye on it; wants to see me every 6 months.

So what I can expect, or be concerned about?

Hi:

"a diagnosis of ectasia"

Coronary artery ectasia (CAE, an abnormal enlargement of the coronary artery, and a rare cause of heart attack) is seldom discussed in this forum.

"So what I can expect, or be concerned about?"

It is essential that you discuss this matter with your cardiologist.

Ectasia just means a dilated vessel. I have seen reference to it being used for the aorta also called an aortic aneurysm.

You need to ask your doctor to explain exactly what the condition is. And if it is the aorta what size is it, what size becomes critical. And how often do you need a follow up.
