Afib medication
Norbeck posted:
I have Afib, I am on a new blood thinner called Xarelto. When I cut myself I do not bleed, nor do I bruise... NO ONE will tell if this is good or not... the manufacturer has not answered my 3 requests for answers, and my doctors just tell me " Don't worry it's working".. I have talked with other user's and they say they bleed alot when cut.. Does anyone have this problem ??
or know anything about this drug and why I don't bleed.
James Beckerman, MD, FACC responded:
Bleeding can be a side effect from Xarelto and other blood thinners, and in some cases patients may find that it takes longer for bleeding to stop when they cut themselves. While it's not clear "why you don't bleed" when you have gotten small cuts in the past, I think it's likely that the medication is working appropriately.
