In a study with rats,
"... consumption of pistachio as 20% of daily caloric intake leads to significant improvement in HDL and TC/HDL ratio and inhib its LDL cholesterol oxidation. These results suggest that pistachio may be beneficial for both prevention and treatment of coronary artery disease."
"Consumption of pistachio as 20% of daily caloric intake increased serum paraoxonase activity by 35% and arylesterase activity by 60%, which are known to inhibit LDL cholesterol oxidation".

Turbocharge your HDL with anything that boosts paraoxonase or paraoxonase activity.

For people, that suggests a maximum of about 400 calories from pistachios on a 2000 calorie a day diet, about 2 1/2 ounces a day. On a 1500 calorie diet, 300 calories, and about 2 ounces.
