I found this interesting. It explains "true" hunger, and "toxic" hunger better than I had understood previously.
I believe this change in hunger, on a high nutrient diet, is very genuine. I certainly have experienced a change. I am bemused at myself. For 30 years, I had eaten 6+ times a day, as recommended by Pritikin. If I didn't eat for 4 hours, I felt in dire straights. For my first year on Fuhrman, I didn't understand the meal frequency thing. Fuhrman said eat when you are hungry. I thought I was hungry 6+ times a day. After the first year, I started eating 3 meals weekdays, and 2 meals weekends. Now I don't think about food until 2:30pm. I can have a fine workout, when I haven't eaten for 8+ hours prior.
There are other things going on, depending on our heredity, and many factors. But, it's valuable insight.
I've pointed out the same thing in my personal case.
I used to eat a lot more, and some fat at every meal. Now, I eat almost no fat, and probably 2/3 to 1/2 the calories I ate before bypass surgery, yet I am able to gain back some weight and maintain it. I do not get hungry, but eat more by the clock.
I eat highly nutritious food, have no hunger, and a strong immune system.
