Dont eat 4 hours before bed
    EngineerGuy posted:
    Hi folks,

A great tip is to avoid eating anything, and only drink water, for 4 hours before bed. You may sleep more soundly. This is a very valuable tip for some people with insomnia. Sometimes I go to bed slightly hungry, which is very healthy. If hungry, drink a glass of water. Drawing energy from your reserves, requires water. So, drinking water does more than simply put something in your stomach for a short while. The wafer actually does help your body fuel itself from stored reserves, which is a very healthy metabolic state.

Digesting food while sleeping causes the blood sugar to go higher longer, since there is no activity to utilize the sugar. More of the calories go to fat.

I normally get up several times a night to go to the bathroom, due to BPH (prostate enlargement). (I believe stress at work, is a big factor in developing BPH.) Anyway, if I don't eat 4 hours before bed, I get up much less, since I am not digesting while sleeping.

To help avoid eating late at night, I take some old fashioned oatmeal to work, with cinnamon, so I can move this higher calorie meal to right after my noon workout, instead of late at night, soon before bedtime.

I was surprised to see an easy drop of a couple pounds, increase in strength, and getting really lean on the belly fat, perhaps below 1/2 inch.

Obviously, we have to break this rule sometimes, but try to make a meal light (salad), or maybe an orange for desert, etc. If you don't feel like an apple or orange, or some similar light fruit for desert, perhaps you aren't really hungry, but just want to graze. No crime in that, but in that case, drink a glass of water, and tough it out until you go to bed.

    Best regards, EngineerGuy
