Dear all,

I found this site and I would highly appreciate if you could help me.

My daughter touched a dried blood stain and the put her finger to her mouth before I realized it. She has has Hep A/B vaccinations so I am worried about Hep C since I read it can survive 4 days in dry blood. The blood stain was 1-2 days old...

Is she at risk and should she get tested? I would highly appreciate an expert opinion!

Thank you so much!

Quick question - was the blood from a person positive for Hep C? If not, there's no risk.

But please do give your daughters pediatrician a call - it will ease your mind and give you more info.

even if the blood was fresh and infected with hcv swallowing blood is not a viable transmission route - stomach acid will kill hcv
