    Exciting News for WebMD Members!

We've been busy behind the scenes building new message boards for you. You'll have new and easier ways to find messages, connect with others, and share your stories.

And, this will all be available on your smartphone or other mobile device!

What Do You Need to Do?

The message board you're used to will be closing in the coming weeks. While many of your boards will be making the move to our new home, your posts will not. Want to keep a discussion going? Save posts you want to continue (this includes your member profile story), so that you can re-post them in the new message boards.

Keep an eye here and on your email inbox, we'll be back in touch soon to give you all the information you need!

    Yours in health,

    Hepatitis C and Cataract Surgery

My husband was recently diagnosed with hepatitis C and now needs to have a cataract removed from his left eye. He recently had abdominal surgery and had an abscess removed from his stomach. (this was when we found out about the hep C). She has said that the blood work on his liver is up and down on a daily basis. (Not sure exactly what this all means as a matter of the moment). However, he has shown nothing but improvement. His current doctor (At the VA) has said that no one will touch his eye due to his medical condition.

Has anyone experienced this situation? Any insight will be greatly appreciated.

I have hepC and cirrohosis. I am also on a transplant list. I have developed awful cataracts quickly. My left eye was done in the last month. Right eye is worse and I am doing steroid drops in it first. If eye surgeon is worried, my hematologist said he would attend surgery.
