I am a widow, I lost my husband to complications brought on by hep.c last Sept. After 4 yrs of taking care of him(the last 6 months were bad) he lost his battle. I was devastated and depressed for months. I have recently met a man whom I have fallen deeply in love with, and he just found out he may have contracted hep.c from his ex by having blood contact with her after she cut her finger. He now has postponed our first physical encounter for fear of passing it on to me. I know from experience that contracting it through sex is very unlikely, my late husband had it for 35+ yrs and never spread it to me.I cannot seem to make this new man in my life understand this, I am not afraid of getting it from him through sex or saliva and would gladly take care of him the way I did for my husband, but he is proud and very fearful of giving it to me. No, he is not trying to find a way out of our relationship, I know this for certain. I would just love to have some advice on more positive things to tell him that would help him to ease his mind. We were planning a future together and i still want to be there for him, I just don't know how to convince him of that!! Please help!!!!!! Any suggestions would be appreciated.

IS HE SEEING AN MD FOR HIS HEP C? IF YES ASK TO GO ALONG WITH HIM. SO YOU BOTH CAN LEARN. I HAVE BEEN MARRIED 47 YEARS TO THE LOVE OF MY LIFE AND WE HAVE 3 ADULT DAUGHTERS AND NO ONE HAS HEP BUT ME.

Yes he is, and I have told him that in my experience with my late husband that I never contracted it either. He is just SO SCARED that he will give it to me that nothing I say is phasing him. so I will leave it to the Dr. to tell him. Unfortunately we live in different cities 10 hrs apart, so going with him is not always going to be an option.I know and you know how VERY unlikely it would be for me to get it, I just can't seem to convince him of that. Hopefully there will be more respond to my discussion and I can show him just how many there are out there who live with this everyday, as man and wife without fear. Thank you for your response, it means a lot to both of our futures!!

I DO NOT THINK I HAVE EVER HEARD OF ANYONE GETTING HCV FROM SEX UNLESS MANY MANY PARTNERS.

Thats what I said. He is slowly coming around, Thank you for your input as it was a help in his deciding that I was not just trying to jump in the sack with no regards to my safety, lol. Good luck with your HCV, I will keep you in my prayers. You helped me save a valued relationship with a man I don't want to live without!!
