The doctor asked if Ihad insurance, "yes" the ins. won't pay for the meds. 2000.00 a month. needless to say, I'm not getting the meds, I haven't seen the Dr. since they diagnosed me except for my regular Dr. who keeps a check on my liver count. I was diagnosed 3 yrs ago. By then I'd had Hep C for 5 to 7 years he said. I'd an operation in 2001. I'm pretty sure thats when I got it. They say they check for it but mistakes happen.

There are assistance programs available to help pay for the medications. Also if you enroll in a clinical trial the medication if free. Typically hepatitis C is not routinely checked for prior to an operation.

Hi, thank you for replying. I would not mind being inrolled in clinical trials. What programs assist with the medications? I have COPD, Do I qualify? Also, 25 yrs ago, I accidently shot myself and from what I understand, the bullet ( a 25 auto.) went through my liver, also hitting an artery or vain in the liver. I was also diagnosed with a fatty liver before the Hep, C was found, and the C was found because I asked the Dr. to check for it. My mother had it and I just had a feeling even though it isn't an inherited decease. 3 or 4 yrs ago I had step 2 fibrosis of the liver. Is it too late?
