    Exciting News for WebMD Members!

We've been busy behind the scenes building new message boards for you. You'll have new and easier ways to find messages, connect with others, and share your stories.

And, this will all be available on your smartphone or other mobile device!

What Do You Need to Do?

The message board you're used to will be closing in the coming weeks. While many of your boards will be making the move to our new home, your posts will not. Want to keep a discussion going? Save posts you want to continue (this includes your member profile story), so that you can re-post them in the new message boards.

Keep an eye here and on your email inbox, we'll be back in touch soon to give you all the information you need!

K my child was diagnosed with autoimmung Hep at 12. Was on Prednisone and azathioprine and is doing great now. On low doses of both still. She will have another Liver biopsy in a year with hopes to remove her from all meds if all is well. She is going in tomorrow for Hep A vaccine. I am just not sure about that????? Can anyone make me feel better about giving her vaccinations especiall Hep vaccines. Another question for you all is How is Mono linked to this. She was diagnosed with Mono at 3 1/2 years old.

    Melissa Palmer, MD responded:
The hepatitis A vaccine is recommended in anyone with chronic liver disease. Studies have shown that if someone with liver disease becomes infected with hepatitis A they risk having a very severe course of disease.

The hepatitis A and B vaccine are recommended in anyone with chronic liver disease. Other vaccines are at the recommendation of your personal physician. And, mono has not correlation with autoimmune hepatitis
