Click the link above to read about a new study showing that milk thistle didn't offer any significant benefits for people with chronic Hep C, even when given at higher than the normal dose.

Has milk thistle been recommended to you?

I have been using Milk Thistle(1000 mg) along with Alpha Lipoic Acid(200mg) and Selenium.(400mg) Under a doctor's care since Dec 2012 as an alternitve treatment for Hep C.

Before starting this treatment I experienced ISB symptoms I could not eat dairy, gluten, sugar without bloating. My liver would swell so much it felt like my ribs were going to break. Within 2 days after starting the milk thistle I felt an improvement; it had a cooling effect. Now I dont have the pain and swelling and I can have wheat and dairy once or twice a week. My ISB symptoms are gone. No more diarea. I take a digestive enzimes if I eat a large meal.

While this treatment my not be sucsessful in clearing me of the virus it has gone a long way to improving my life.

I am also being treated for hormonal imblance which is the main cause of the depression / anixity. The same Doctor has been treating me for this for more than 5 years. At this time he believes my imbalaces are stemming from the Hep C.

If I hadn't been tested for hep c as a pre employement screening I never would have been diagnosed. My liver panels were normal.

So for me milk thistle works
as a note of caution: Selenium rasies the blood sugar so blood sugar must be monoterd.

while milk thistle is not an approved treatment for hep c - it does provide many benefits to the liver and the immune system - its antioxidant properties are a powerful ally
