The last one I took was the OraQuick Advance HIV1/2 and on that test they used blood,

The OralQuick tests are considered to provide accurate test results when taken after the appropriate waiting period (the recommendation is typically to wait 90 days after a potential exposure for testing).

Then you can certainly trust that the results from this test were accurate.

Unfortunately, this board cannot diagnose why you vomit all the time and your lymph nodes are swollwn.

All we can tell you is that your tests have clearly shown that you are HIV negative.

Have they referred you to a Gastroenterologist regarding this vomiting?

Yes I have went to a GI specialist, and ENT, they are even testing me now for cancer, and HTLV. I have been cleared for EBV, CMV, all forms of Hep. The only thing they have found is that some how some way I have liver disease with scarring. This was shocking news for me since I do not drink! My only option at this point is some form of cancer or a allergic reaction to something. I am still waiting on the results from the biopsies as well

David J Malebranche, MD, MPH replied to Smileyman's response:
Sorry for the late response,

sounds pretty frustrating what you've been going through. If they are telling you you have liver disease with scarring, that sounds like a condition called cirrhosis, which can be caused by alcohol, yes, but more likely viruses such as hepatitis B and C. In some cases, they may not be able to identify the cause with standard blood tests, hence why the biopsy is so critical.

I'm a firm believer in getting a second opinion if you feel the specialists aren't helping you.... but it sounds like they've been working you up appropriately, its just taking way too long. And there's no other medications you are on? I would suggest going to this webpage defining cirrhosis and the potential causes so you can be educated when you see the next doctor you do.

Good luck, and hang in there, be proactive in your care if you don't feel like you're getting answers, but be assured that with the negative HIV tests its not HIV!

David
