Was my test accurate?

Hello, I slept with a man a few times a year and a half ago with unknown HIV status. 4 months after I went for a rapid oral HIV test that came back negative. I had another rapid test done today which would be over a year since we last had sex. I had the rapid test where they prick your finger for blood. The clinician told me my results would be ready in 15 minutes. I sat and waited with her because she was trying to talk to me (I was crying, I have severe HIV phobia) it didn't feel like she waited the full 15 minutes but she went to get the test and came back to congratulate me on it being negative. Am I being overly obsessive thinking she may have not waited long enough to read my results correctly? Please anyone with some knowledge on this kindly answer. Thanks a lot!

A test done 3 months after a potential exposure is considered to be accurate in terms of ones status.

Your four month rapid oral HIV test and the rapid test done today using blood have both shown that these sexual experiences did not leave you infected.

Thanks Gail. I realize I may be paranoid... But I just want to ask one more question. I wasn't sure if the test I had done tested me for both HIV1 and HIV2. The lady told me I had nothing to worry about when she gave me the results and told me no further testing is necessary as I had waited over a year to be tested. It wasn't until after I came home that I started questioning the test. I know there are tests that don't pick up HIV-2 so IF it didn't do I need to go for further testing? I'm paranoid because my husband and I want to start trying to have another baby soon. Thanks everyone

The OraQuick Advance test (which is the one that gives the results in a short period of time) tests for both strains of HIV.
