Blood on hand

Anon_126579 posted:
I was at the gym yesterday and, after sharing an exercise machine with a stranger, I noticed what looked like a smudge of blood on my hand and finger. I immediately reached in my gym bag I carry with me and put on some sanitizer spread to wipe it off. I'm worried because the sanitizer kind of stung my finger which happens when I have small cuts. I also did it really quickly so maybe the HIV virus was still alive outside the body because it was only a matter of seconds later? Maybe HIV is a stretch but HEP C survives outside the body well from what I read. What should I do?

What should you do? Stop worrying about this. Small cuts on your fingers that are not actively bleeding are not open portals into your body; thus, neither virus (assuming that this WAS blood AND it came from someone who was either HIV or Hepatitis positive) can enter your system.
