unusual questions regarding tranmission risks.

My boyfriend was just diagnosed with HIV. I tested negative for the virus. He is not yet on meds, but his Dr. stated he will be starting HAART meds this week. I have HCV and do not want to transmit it to him, nor have HIV transmitted to me. Obviously.... What special precautions should I take to prevent him from getting HCV? We do not and have not had intercourse. Can we even have safe sex? is my saliva dangerous to him?

Saliva does not contain either the HCV nor (as in the case of your boyfriend) the HIV virus UNLESS it also happens to contain blood.

If by safe sex, you mean accurate condom use, yes; neither virus can pass through an intact latex condom.
