I would just like some suggestions on what to cook for my husband, who has just been diagnosed with high blood pressure. He is about 20 pounds overweight but fairly active.

For the weight loss (and losing weight will help reduce BP). The main thing is to watch proportion sizes. Also reduce/eliminate sugar sweetened drink and refined carbs (white flour).

For a general diet look at the Dash and Mediterranean diets.

In general more fruits and veggies and reduce the amount of prepared and processed foods.

Some people are sensitive to sodium (which is high in many prepared foods), but many or not.

But as important is the amount of potassium. Many get too little. Again fruits and veggies help this.
