Every morning I am getting awakened at 2 or 3 a.m. with the worst above 10 level pain in my lower abdomen. I can hear my guts just rumbling. Sometimes I can go to the bathroom, sometimes not. I take a Bentyl and some pain meds and in a few HOURS, I can get back to sleep. Seeing how I have to be at work at 8:00 a.m., I am becoming sleep deprived! I am trying very hard to stick to the IBS diet, but still having this tremendous pain!

My doc switched me back to clear liquids again. UGH! Could this be something else than IBS? Do any of you go through this? I am getting so depressed! I just sat there crying last night, I can barely handle this anymore. I don't even want to go to my boyfriend's house anymore because of this.

feel your pain and this actually happened to me last night as well as many other nights. i'm also starting to question what is going on with my body. i'm also gluten intolerant (haven't done the test to prove celiac yet). might be something to ask your doc about. i hope we both get answers soon and try to hang in there

called my doc. he ordered a celiac test for me, and some prozac. this pain is getting the best of me. I am usually a pretty tough cookie, but this level of pain for so long would knock down the best of them!
Good luck

I'm with your doctor on this this one - which sounds odd to say around here.

I can't remember, have you started that food diary yet? The timing makes me wonder if you're reacting to something you ate at dinner or in the evening. The rumbling reminds me of when I eat something I shouldn't have (usually sweets - I have a massive sweet tooth and can never stop at just one).

The only thing different that I had was six ounces of mountain dew. Is this customary to have something once, and then to hurt for a week after it? I thought with IBS that it wouldn't have that effect on you for so long!

It wouldn't be something different you had, but something that you have every day causing the problem every night.

It's not IBS! I ended up in the E.R. yesterday with severe pain. They did a cat scan and found quite a bit of fluid in my endometrium. Believe this is related to an ablation I had a few months ago. Going to see an obgyn tomorrow. doc figures the pressure from eating pushed on the uterus and caused my pain!
