    Sounds like IBS?

Warning: not going to sugar-coat myself here, I'm going to be gross

I've had a "nervous stomach" my entire life, and with that nervous stomach almost always came diarrhea. It happens more often than not, and even sometimes without the nervous stomach.

Occasionally, possibly once a month give or take, I get unbearable cramps if I don't use the restroom right away. It feels like someone had thrust their hand inside my abdomen and is twisting and pulling my intestines, while tying them in knots. It's horrific pain, and it comes in waves until I finally use the restroom. Most of the time when it feels like this, the result is a disgusting mucousy grossness.

Also occasionally, maybe two or three times a year, with the mucousy grossness, will come blood. It's not super bright red, and it's not tarry or black, but a light red. It will be either in the toiler or on the paper, possibly both, and only on one occasion was it enough to give me serious pause.

I told my primary doctor this, and he gave me sample containers to give to the lab. The results took almost a month, and they were inconclusive. Does this sound consistent with anything someone else has? Or should I pursue more aggressive means of diagnosis? Thanks!

I had similar symptoms of a nervous stomach my entire life. Once I started an anti-anxiety medicine, the gross feeling in my stomach stopped. When I do get nervous or know that I will be in a stressful event, I up my anti-anxiety medicine and take some Immodium AD to stop the grosser symptoms.

that doesn't sound like IBS. I would persist in finding a good gastroenterologist to find out what is going on. Get tests and watch your diet, especially avoid spicy food... Your symptoms sound serious. Pursue it aggressively.
