IBS Has Returned, Worse Than Ever

I'm a 65 y/o male, diagnosed with IBS 10 yrs. ago.

I started taking a probiotic 6 months ago with pretty good results. In the last 2 weeks , However, the IBS has returned , worse than ever. In the past, just 1 Immodium would stop things and settle things down for quite a while. This latest flare-up seems to be much, much worse. I have to take 1 Immodium every day. I've read about people who take up to 10 caplets/day, but that scares me , especially since they seem to grow tolerant of it.
I'm considering calling the doctor since I'm worried that IBS may not be the culprit.
So, what do people think about the Immodium dosage, and, inconjunction with a probiotic?

Thanks for any ideas or suggestions.
