An ultrasound shows that I have gallstones and doctor wants to take gallbladder out. Everything I've read indicates that diarrhea becomes a problem with it taken out--and I already suffer enough with diarrhea that I don't want to ask for more.

Barbara, if you've been doing your reading on 'digestive' boards you will hear that this happens 'all' the time. The problem with the boards is it's a place where people go to seek help so you won't hear from the individuals who are well and not having problems. Granted, the incidence after GB surgery does seem to be high when it comes to diarrhea, but it doesn't happen to everyone. You may have to change your diet and adopt a low fat one, but that probably wouldn't be a hardship - although it might be tough.
