    Flu like symptoms with IBS
    scarlettzito posted:
I am new to this discussion panel. I have had IBS for a lot of years, but I didn' t know what it was until about 2 years ago. I am 70 years old and it seems to be getting worse all the time. I have been checked out by my Gastroenterologist, my Gynocologist, my Urologist, my Orthopedist and lastly by a Proctologist. I have a slightly dropped bladder, hemorhoids and fissures on the anus. Not surprisingly, they all agree that I have a moderatly severe case of IBS. Since I have arthritis in my hip and I have chronic low back pain, my Orthopedist says that could also be a contributing factor to IBS. But I have noticed that I get Flu like symptoms when I am having a particularly bad espisode of IBS. I would like to know if anyone else has had this same effect from IBS? It is a very puzzleing effect. I would appreciate any information anyone can give me.

    Thank you.

Scarlettzito, from what you've said about the organs in the area of the pelvis, I assume that your major issue is changes in bowel habits? Could you spell things out a bit more clearly? What specific symptoms are you having because no two cases of IBS are similar. And what flu-like symptoms happen when you have a particularly bad bout?
