    IBS Question

Hello, I have recently begun to suffer the effects of IBS, I think. A few years ago, I was suffering from the constant bloat, gas, stomach ache, and diarrhea. I always felt sick, especially after I ate. I went to a few doctor appointments and tests came back normal. I was prescribed a medication for GERD, which I stopped taking because of inconvenience (I know, a bad excuse). I am in the Spring semester of my Freshman year of college and recently I have been feeling the same symptoms. I wake up in the morning feeling nauseous and not very hungry. I eventually feel hunger later in the day, but the constant feel to defecate and pass gas is unbearable. I do believe I have been losing weight. I am wondering if this is just due to stress and I don't expect a definitive answer. Along with the digestive issues, I am fatigued. I do try to exercise and that keeps my symptoms at bay a little. Any comments are appreciated! At this point, I'm looking for support and advice on any recommended next courses of treatment. Thanks!

I have had the same issues. I just finished my freshman year in college. It was so bad that I actually had to transfer back in state to be closer to my family. I dont know if the anxiety or bowel problems came first. I took several tests and they all came back normal. I know I dont have gluten problems because ive tried eating all gluten free foods and still have an issue. This problem is depressing and came on all of a sudden. I went to school weighing 131 and came back weighing 119 after just one semester. I'm afraid to eat any kinds of food. It took me awhile to accept my food issue, but i have to or else it will affect my life negatively. I have had jobs in the past but now I am afraid to get another. I don't want this to ruin my life. I dont want to take any medications. I'm trying to be as natural as possible. I feel your pain and your misery. If you need any support I am here for you!! Your post let me know that I'm not the only one out there. I dont even know if I have IBS but im too afraid to have a test done and it comes out negative.Good Luck though! In life and in school

There are no tests for IBS However a colon test can reveal if you have bacteria which can be cured with antibiotics Tests for thyroid issues, gluten test, and lactose You may just be sensitive to these IBS uses a criteria to diagnose, and they believe has a strong mind/body connection Stress can be big factor, also a lot of people with IBS seem to have skin disorders that are also connected with stress Perhaps going to school set this off I no longer work and my life has changed dramatically, no eating out with family, always checking for restrooms wherever I go, diet sucks no answers there for me seems to be almost everything to some degree Wake up every day hoping it's gone as I'm sure do many... GL to you but run all the tests and talk to GI specialist only way to know Yours may be simple Lactose, gluten, stress management...
