    IBS/Lactose Intolerance

    In my third trimester of pregnancy with my first son I noticed I could not have cheese anymore and almost everything would bother my stomach. Soon after eating cereal(which was my favorite thing to eat) I would get bad cramps and diarrhea so bad. So I stopped drinking milk. My symptoms got worse and worse and over the years Ive just learned to live with it. I heard of Lactaid soy milk so I use that a lot and I use Immodium to treat the diarrhea. I havent done many tests with my G.I. he thinks from the talks we have had that he is positive I have IBS only. It has really affected my life to the point where Im depressed and cannot go anywhere. I rarely keep a job but I never tell my employers my issues with IBS.

    If your doctor hasn't tested you for food intolerance issues, ask that he/she do so. In many individuals who have GI problems the issue can be put in the IBS category when, in fact, the problems could be caused by food intolerances. And it can lead to people feeling like they can't eat anything at all because at some point almost anything you put in your mouth can end up making a 'touchy' digestive tract rebel.

    Four of the bigger allergenic foods are gluten (wheat, rye an d barley), dairy, eggs and soy.

    If you don't want to be tested, you might consider taking all dairy and gluten out of your diet for about 3 weeks and see if your symptoms change. It could be very worth it.

    Some of the other symptoms that go allow with food problems can include fatigue, rashes, bloating, weight gain no matter how little is eaten, brain fog and a host of other miserable problems.
