I've had UTI's in the past but this most recent one was the worst by far. Symptoms started around 8pm and by 2am I had a fever, chills and was urinating clumps of blood. I was treated in the er because I was away from home. I started my antibiotics on Friday afternoon. It has been almost 4 days of treatment and I still feel uncomfortable in my abdomen and when I tested my urine with an AZO test strip there was still blood present. How long should it take for the blood to be gone and the fullness in the bladder to subside? Should I make another appointment? Is there a chance the bacteria is resistant or am I just not healed yet? This is also my first day without the urinary analgesic. Thanks for your help.

I would go ahead and get rechecked by your doctor. You should feel tons better by now in my experience.

If you continue to have bladder symptoms including blood in your urine, you need to see your doctor as the antibiotic should have worked by 4 days. It could be that the bacteria causing the infection was resistant to the antibiotic you were prescribed.
