Dear tlk83, You are probably struggling with the most common endocrine problem that women have. You have eggs and your brain is sending a hormone signal to the ovaries but for some reason you don't ovulate (release an egg). Before you ovulate your body is in an estrogen dominant environment. If you ovulate your body transitions to an estrogen and progesterone dominant environment.Another way to think of this is that you have a progesterone deficiency, which is why your doctor prescribed by medroxyprogesterone acetate (Provera). Provera is a synthetic progesterone that can simulate the 2nd half of the menstrual cycle and induce a menstrual period allowing you to start over. You raise a very good point however. Another common cause of amenorrhea (no menstrual period) is pregnancy. Therefore if there is any question, you should confirm that your pregnancy test is negative before taking the Provera. In a situation like this it is common to take another medication such as letrozole, tamoxifen for clomiphene citrate to try to help induce ovulation. I am glad that you are working with you are doctor as there are several hormonal conditions including thyroid and prolactin abnormalities that can be associated with this condition. At the age of 30, your chances of success should be very high unless some other problem is identified.Best wishes on your journey.

Thank you so much for replying back. Im on my third month of the medro.. of course some of the side effects aren't the best. I dont go back to Dr til nrxt month I was wondering if a panic attack is also a side effect? I have had my thyroid checked and it came back good. I also have to go to the cancer center I had a leep and a biopsy on my cervix back in 2010 the results came back good...but in Dec my pap came back irregular so they scrapped a white spot that is on my cervix so I am waiting on those results and he also said that he might do another small leep....does any of this effect my chances on getting pregnant?? I just feel like im doing all of this for nothing.
