Painful Ovulation on Clomid?

summer53105 posted:
I am 24 and my husband is 29. We have been TTC for a year now w/ no results. We have 1 princess who just turned 5. My cycle was totally normal until January. I had no period in February and March and the Dr. gave me medroxyprogesterone which got me a day and 1/2 long period in April. I went and saw my OB/GYN after that, in May, and he also gave me an RX for medroxyprogesterone and Clomid. Only 50 mg for days 3-7 and I've only taken it the one time so far.

It started on Thursday with occasional pain, nothing too bad, just uncomfortable and on Friday it was about the same. Then Saturday and Sunday, when I had my surge according to the tests, it was almost constant discomfort. Just like with PMS cramps, the pain was relieved for quite a while after... "having fun". I don't have PCOS and everything is "in working order". My OB/GYN doesn't think that there is anything seriously wrong, just that my ovaries were over stimulated.

Has anyone else had this problem???

that is actualy quite common for clomid users that also normally ovulate on their own, and not always is it many eggs, it may just be one Really GOOD egg :)

I am on my 4th cycle with clomid (first on 100mg not Go time yet) and 2 of the 3 on 50mg I KNEW when I ovulated because of the pain. I'm expecting this month to be just as bad if not worse.

I hope the first time works for you!

if not, you might ask your doctor about taking it cd 5-9 instead. There's theroys that taking it 5-9 will produce a better but single, egg while 3-7 sometimes will produce multiple eggs. I've taken it both times and the 3-7 for me gives me an earlier O with more "pain".

Thanks for replying! At least I know I'm not the only one out there. I'm glad you posted the difference between 5-9 vs 3-7. Not that producing multiple eggs would surprise me with or without the clomid. We have major twin-age on both sides of my family (though only the mother's side is supposed to count). 6 fraternal and 2 identical through my mom's side as far back as we can trace and 4 fraternal and 3 identical on my dad's (who is an identical twin) side. Now the pain is pretty much gone but I have super bouts of nausea and tiredness. Not sure if that's the clomid or not though.

Just checking in on you Summer. :) Are you chomping at the bit to pee on something? :) I think I ovulated last night, I was in pretty bad shape last night, and got a on an OPK on Tuesday. I'm just waiting for my BBT temp to rise to verify.

Post either way when you know whats going on.

Hey! Thanks for checking in :-) I am so ready to POAS! I've got some good signs, but they could also just be pms too. Who knows. Over the last 6 months my pms symptoms have been totally irratic but we are hoping that is pg this time! A few more days and I'll hopefully know! Hope this time is your lucky time too! *baby dust to you!*

fiannakyn replied to summer53105's response:
I'm at work, or I'd send you this blinkie I have that looks like a Windows pop up warning that warns you that the POAS limit has been reached. you can chose to "comply" or "Re-Pee"

my Temp did rise so Yay!. I do hope this is the one. We've been trying off and on for the last 10 years, and our 10 wedding anivasary is Sunday. 4 days past ovulation is a touch too early to POAS unfortunalty.

Well, AF was supposed to be here today and all I got was a very tiny bit of slightly tinted spotting so I don't know if that actually counts lol! And my stupid chest hasn't quit filling in and one of my favorite bras actually busted today darn it! I'm still going to wait and see what happens tomorrow before I POAS. Good luck to you!

Well, I got a BFN this morning on my test and I called my dr because AF hasn't really got here yet but I'm supposed to start another round of Clomid soon. Of course he just said wait a few more days and test again. I wish they'd just give me the serum pg test and get it over with lol!

summer53105 replied to fiannakyn's response:
Well let's hope you have better luck than I did lol! AF came last evening with a big old kick in the gut cramp. There is always next month right? I kind of figured that it wouldn't happen this month since it's only my 1st cycle of clomid. So here's to round 2 :-)

fiannakyn replied to summer53105's response:

Normally I would but we have a busy weekend ahead of us. Taking our princess camping and it's been about 2 years since we took her so we'll see how it goes. There's a whole group of us with kids going. Gotta make kid treats, and gotta make adult treats (jello shots lol!) so I'm sure I'll have plenty of spirit boosting! And we just found out that our roof needs to be replaced so since I'll be crawling around on the roof I'm kind of glad this month didn't work. I was a little sad, for about 10 minutes, but I'm in an insanely good mood today so I'm just hoping for better luck next cycle! Lots of baby dust to you! It seems like forever from now but your big test day will be here sooner than you think ;-)
