Yvette Smith, MD, MPH responded:
I would not count on a symptom like a hard tummy to predict a positive pregnancy test. Early in pregnancy the uterus is still very small and can not be felt by try to push on your tummy. I would say that breast tenderness is one of the earliest possible signs of pregnancy, frequently showing up before a missed period. Unfortunately, many women have breast tenderness before their period anyway so it isn't as reliable a symptom as we would like.

Good luck!! Keep us updated.

I don't think the system accepted my last answer so forgive me if I am repeating myself.

An early pregnancy is very small and can not be felt by pressing on your tummy. A more common early symptom of pregnancy is breast tenderness. It frequently appears even before a missed period (for those who are going to have this symptom). Unfortunately, many women have breast tenderness before their period anyway, so even this symptom is not a reliable predictor of a positive pregnancy test.

Good luck and keep us updated.
