How long should we be TTC before a doctor would normally perscribe Clomid?? I've read alot of things that say to wait a year before seeking any kind of medical attention but I hate the thought of waiting a full year. We've already been trying 7 months now and it is a little frustrating. I wouldn't be in such a rush but my hubby is 34 years old and I'm 25. We both want to start a family so badly and wanted 3, maybe 4 children but I feel as if time is really ticking. I'm so frustrated that all my dr. can tell me is to be patient and to not stress... easier said than done!!

Oh, and my cycles have been 38-40 days apart since going off birth control which is odd since my cycles were normally 28-30 days before I was on the pill. I've already tried the ovulation kits, and tested twice a day even. Every time produced a negative result. Any other suggestions?

My doctor was ready to move on at about 8 months, but because I showed him there was a problem. I was due for my annual pap and I started using the OPK. I had 3 full cycles of using them every day with negatives. Since I wasn't getting a positive I took one every day and didn't stop like the instructions say. I had all the results on a calendar when i went for my appointment. He did a bunch of blood work then started me on clomid. I took 4 cycles and had an HSG and DH had a SA. Now he's passed me on to an RE and I'm waiting for that appointment in 3 weeks.

Your situation is similar to mine!

I'm 24 and DH is 37 we have been TTC for 10 months. We also want 3-4 kids. This is my 1st round of Clomid. I went off b/c in March 2011 and was having trouble with AF. I used opks off and on and never had a . My dr would prescribe something to bring on AF but I finally had to tell her "I don't believe I am ovulating.". That was at 8 months. She gave me Clomid with no arguments and I'm currently in my first official 2ww!

I think it just depends on your dr how early they start treatment. Have you tried being more aggressive with them and explaining the situation? I found I just had to speak up about my concerns and then my dr did what I wanted.
    Me-24 DH-37 TTC 1 for 9 months. Start Clomid on 12/29!
