High HCG Levels After IVF

Had my first HCG Beta blood test yesterday and was thrilled to find out that we are pregnant after our first frozen cycle. We chose to only transfer 1 5-day blast. They used ICSI and assisted hatching. My IVF Coordinator called to say if she didn't know better that I had only transferred 1 she would think multiples as my HCG is at 475. They usually see 80-100. I know there is a possible chance of identical twinning when they do the assisted hatching but its a really rare occurence.

My Mom says that it may be just a large placenta that is making the number high. Anyone have experience with this that can shed light? I will know for sure in 2 weeks for my first ultrasound but in the meantime just curious.

Hi there! I think we're in the same shoes! We transferred one 5 day blast with icsi & assisted hatching. Today was my day 13 post transfer and my hcg level was 1030. As happy as I am that we're pregnant, I'm petrified at the thought of twins (we live in another state away from family/friends). My next hcg level is on Tues. Let me know how yours turns out!

Good luck!

They say not to read too much into HCG levels as long as they double, but higher numbers can mean twins. The information I found all said it may or may not mean anything. I didn't do IVF, but did injections. At 14 dpo mine was 400 and 48 hours later 950. I have one good one and one blighted ovum, which they are now calling a vanishing twin. I was also terrified of twins and panicked when I first saw 2 sacs on the screen. Good luck and I hope everything works out for both of you!

I can't remember how high my HCG levels were, but I"m expecting twins in 6 weeks. My RE's office said that mine were elevated, but not dramatically. We transferred 3 embryos from a fresh cycle, so my twins are fraternal.

You may be having twins, but then again, some women have really high HCG levels and are only expecting one baby. It's so random!

I bet you are going to be dying of suspense for the next two weeks!!! I remember when we first saw the babies and they looked like tiny gummy bears on the u/s. It was awesome.

I'll look forward to you coming to post on the Pregnancy After Infertility Forum. Keep us updated!
