Trying for 2nd after IVF 1st

I am returning to these boards after a while. I have a wonderful baby boy after 4 fresh IVF cycles plus 2 frozen cycles. We want to start treatments to try for a second soon. I have no idea how it works for a second! We tried for so long for the first, and then went through the usual referral and testing process. Does that all happen for the second? It seems crazy to take all that extra time (18 months, realistically) when there's a high likelihood we'll need treatments anyway. Anyway, if any of you have advice, experience, or knowledge, about trying for a 2nd after problems conceiving the 1st, please share!

I didn't make it as far as IVF, but when my RE released me to my OBGYN we discussed this. He told me to come back when I was ready for another and I laughed at him as sick as I've been I can't imagine wanting to do this again. He said we could skip the trying for a year and tests and go straight back to the treatment that worked. Things can change, but he said most likely I'd need the same treatment again so we could just jump there. Good luck!!

In case anyone else is interested: I talked to my RE today and he said we didn't have to go through the waiting and testing again. However you might if you have insurance and the insurance requires it (we don't have any insurance coverage for this stuff).

Also, there are *some* tests that need to be done, and everything is on hold until I stop breast feeding. So that's something to keep in mind if you've had treatments and are planning to try for another baby - talk to your doc early, because there could be delays for weaning and then testing, before you can resume treatments. It's good to get the info early to give yourself time for all that stuff.
