I'm 28 & have been taking Prometrium 200mg daily for almost 3 months. I was on prometrium 100mg for several months before then and my period was normal. I have't had a period in 2 months .I took a pregnancy test about 2 weeks ago and it was negative. Can i still ovulate & get pregnant w/o a period?

Joel Bernstien, MD responded:
A true regular cyclic period is a sign of ovulation without fertilization. If you conceive and it stays, then you would have ovulated, got pregnant, and not had a period.

It sounds more as if you are not ovulating on a regular basis.

Why are you taking daily prometrium?

My dr told me to take it daily because my progesterone levels were really low. They test my thyroid levels every 6 months and within the last year they started testing my progesterone levels also. I have made an appointment to see my obgyn and will let him know everything that is going on and will get him to do additional bloodwork.

I like your plan Sharper. Never hurts to sit down with your provider and express your concerns and get your questions answered.

I have never heard of someone being on daily prometrium for a "low progesterone" unless they were in their first trimester of a pregnancy.
