Hello,
in June 2011 my husband has been diagnosed with Chronic Myeloid Leukemia - CML and started treatment. With the use of Nilotinib is is stricly forbiden for female to get pregnant. We've tried to find more any concerns given the fact that I am not on treatment but only mhusband is, and wether this will affect our wish of conceiving. Studies haven't showed much clarification.
I would highly appreciate any advice, and comments in this regards.
I am 38 and we would love to have a healty baby.
Thank you in advance.

I personally would like to wish you luck and I know you will have the baby you so desire. Are your cycles regular. I think your best bet would be to have an I.U.I only because the meds he is taking might affect his sperm count. The I.U.I actually puts the sperm a bit closer to the egg so they dont have to swim that far.

Thank you amarasmom. We've seen a fertility specialist he tested him twice 6 months apart and said he has a normal sperm test. As for me I've have a single sub mucosal myomectomy 4 months ago and have had regular cycles. We are willing to conceive but the fear of having an abnormal child and the luck of information is our main concern.

Have your OBGYN refer you to see a maternal fetal medicine specialist. They will be able to answer your question. Odds are, if it has not affected his sperm count, then you are OK. It is likely not recommended for the pregnant woman because it can cross the placenta and affect the fetus.

Usually, if a sperm is swimming in the correct direction, then it is a normal sperm.
