1st round of IUI...

new to this board, here is a little history, im 29 my DH is 27. i have had thyroid problems in the past but my levels are normal and taking meds everyday, after waiting for 6 months after radioactive treatment for thyroid dr gave ok to start ttc. just a few weeks later i took a test and was prego. we were so excited and couldnt believe it. went to our 1st ultrasound and there was no heart beat i was measuring 6 1/2 wks instead of 81/2 wks. we were so upset that we were going to lose our 1st baby. it has now been almost 2 years since my miscarriage. we have done 6 rounds of clomid, Dh tested, tubes checked, blood work like crazy, nothing seems to be wrong with either one of us. started another round of clomid saturday and go in next monday for a follicle scan and go from there. im so scared, nervous, upset, happy(not really), i just dont know!!! i have prayed, begged, hoped and nothing has happened for us yet. we have put money back to do 2 IUI treatments and i really am praying it works for us. i dont know how much more i can take of waiting and waiting:( both of our families could use some great news like a new baby on the way, but more for us!!! any advice or anything would be great, thank you

Hello and welcome! I want to first say I am sorry for your m/c! It doesn't matter when it happened it is still just as hard, no matter how long its been!
My story is very similar to yours. I have been trying for 16 months and have done 3 rounds of clomid with timed intercourse and have done 3 rounds IUI now. I just did my 3rd one last week (2/9). I totally understand how frustrating thsi process can be. I really wanted to be pregnant before my birthday, but didn't happen. I am 36 now and the clock is ticking for me. The best advice I can give is to just relax (WAY EASIER SAID THEN DONE) and just have fun.
I don't think I really helped you, but at least you know there are a lot of women on here that feel the same way and have been doing this for way longer. I would love to say it gets eaiser, but it doesn't. Good luck and keep us posted!

It does sound like you've run the gamut on testing... at least its out of the way now its finding the right combination of treatment to get you to where you want to be. Doesn't sound like much, but its a small silver lining. The initial testing can be half of the emotional battle with IF. Honestly your emotions sound on par with any family in this battle... so your perfectly normal in that and your reactions to any of this. My advice having struggled 15yrs ttc naturally, IUI, and 2 ICSI IVF's and another in the works is lean heavily on your DH. He is your buffer, sounding board, friend, lover and partner in this. And be his too. Don't fault eachother for reactions (good/bad/ugly) since its you vs IF. Not IF vs you guys

just an update, went in today for my follice scan and the doctor was very happy with what she saw. i had 2 good sized follices on the right side and 4 that were also good in size on the left side, everything else looked great so i take my ovidrel shot tonight at midnight and we go in for the IUI eariler than planned on wednesday, we go at 9am. i feel really good about our chances and i am praying that i am right and we finally get our little miracle!!

everything went great! the iui its self did not hurt but i had cramping before hand, i think from nerves or from O. so i am praying that it works:)

do you remember what size your follicles were? Also, for the IUI that you did today, did you inquire about the sperm count pre and post-wash?

had 6 total, 2 on the right that were 2cm and the other close to 2 and 4 on the left with one over 2cm one at 2 and the other 2 very close. i did not find out the count but they said that everything went great with DH.

they allowed you to do a IUI with a total of 6? WOW. My RE said if I had more than 4, the cycle would be cancelled due to the danger of multiples conceived and the dangers due to carrying multiples for the mother. The size of the follicles, are those good sizes? I thought the size of the follicles needed to be between 18-24...
sorry to ask so many questions, but I have been waiting for months to do my first IUI and next week it will happen. I am just a little nervous, so if I am making you feel uncomfortable with all my questions please let me know.

sorry I just googled 2cm in mm. which is about 20mm....sorry about that. measurements were never my thing in school and apparently that hasnt changed....

you are totally fine, im going to my regular OB for the IUI, it is a little less expensive since my husbands insurane does not cover IF. the doc that done my scan monday was really happy with that many follies, i dont think we would have twins but if so i would be ready, i am a nanny to 2 sets of twins so i kinda know what to expect( i had the 2nd set since they were born). yea i didnt know about the sizr till i googled it, because when i went to a RE she told me in mm so i was a little confused. good luck to you

It is amazing how many other ladies have told me that they are doing most of their procedure through their OB and not through an RE. I wish my OB would have done that with us to help save on some money, but I guess it just depends on the OB. Did you use another round of Clomid or a different medication?
I am taking 100 mg of Clomid on CD 5-9. Last night I was so out and couldnt get to sleep. Probably a mix of the medication and nerves with finally beginning treatment.
