Should I take Fosamax if I have a disease kidney? My left kidney was removed April 2005. And this one is at 50 percent.
John-SKPT responded:
You'd need to ask your nephrologist. I take it with my one, transplanted kidney. But I've read about other kidney patients who, for one reason or another, are advised to take it only short term or not at all.

Some of the logic may depend on the individual's calcium/phosphorus metabolism and parathyroid hormone levels, and the renal clearance of calcium. That's a case by case decision for the doc.
JFaden replied to John-SKPT's response:
Thank you so much! I will ask my Nephrologist.
