Hip replacement with back issues

georgia888 posted:
I'm due for a hip replacement but have been putting it off. Among other things, I'm concerned about recovery as I have lumbar osteoarthritis with spinal stenosis.

Has anyone had their hip replaced with other such existing problems?

Thank you,
georgia

Bal M Rajagopalan, MD responded:

Hello Georgia888,

These problems frequently coexist as the underlying issue is arthritis. Your recovery can be slower but it is frequently done especially with how debilitating the pain from the hip can be.
