Well, it's official. Went to the ortho doc today. I have advanced osteoarthritis in my right hip, so a hip replacement is needed at only 49 years old. The doc said the best method for me would be the anterior. Apparently recovery time is less with this approach. Just trying to learn as much as I can prior to seeing the doc again in about 2 weeks.

Just a word of advice -- the best method for you is one where the surgeon is very meticulous and does the surgery properly for you. I know there is no way to judge the competence or skill or your doctor, however ultimately you want to know if he does good work. There are pros and cons to all approaches -- ant vs post.
