Over Stuffed Knee Complication
An_251296 posted:
I had knee replacement in Jan 2011. I am 58 years old. Still have a lot of pain. I am 20 -25 Degrees from having a straight leg. I can only bend 85-90 degrees with PT. I have been through it all. Surgical manipulation and only got me another 10 degrees but lost that after physical therapy stopped. Now have hip and back pain due to walking with a cane and leaning on the left.

Every referral doctor say the Xrays look good, correct size and placement. Found a Knee replacement failure specialist. Now they see black lines on the xray around the replacement. Maybe loose or infection. I had CT and Bone Scans and am waiting results, but the new doctor said that the knee is "over stuffed" not enough space between the upper and lower part of the replacement. His suggestion was to shorten the femur and do another replacement.

Has anyone ever heard of this problem or had it treated? What was your outcome? I'm scared of another surgery and this appears to be a big one. I am seriously considering looking into amputation just to get some relief from the constant pain. Has anyone else considered this option. I can't sit or stand.
