Weakness in leg needing a hip replacement

I have been diagnosed as needing a right hip replacement. I have some dull pain in the inner right thigh and occaisionally the front of the leg, about mid thigh will seem to feel cold. However in the past few weeks the leg seems to be weak and will start to give way when descending steps. Is this something related to the hip deterioration?
