How Long Does it Take a Bruised Knee to Heal?

About a month ago I slipped and fell in my backyard and rammed my knee into a metal lawn chair.

No problem walking, no excruciating pain BUT putting pressure on the knee - like kneeling - or climbing a lot of stairs was a problem.

Now, stairs don't hurt so much, but putting direct pressure on it is still painful. I have to do bird-dogs as physical therapy for another unrelated injury, and I can't for as long as my knee is sensitive to this pressure.

Does this sound like a simple bruise/banged up knee, and if so, how long do those take to completely go away?
