Before you think about a Knee replacement, try cleaning the knees out with scope Surgery. Then if your still in pain, Synvisc injections are wonderful, gave me over a year pain free. If I had to do this over again, I would never do it. It changes your entire life, no matter what the Doctors say or somebody who has had it ! I am 1 year and 7 months out from both Surgery on the same knee, first a Partial, with a nice dose of staph, just to have it dug out by another Doctor, which is awsome, and the Total put in ! I will never do my left knee and Pray that I will know what it feels like to live my life without Chronic Pain !

There are several studies that indicate having your arthritic knees "cleaned-out" is not beneficial at all. Especially if your arthritis is very advanced. Same for Synvisc injections. My doctor won't even do them because of the poor success rate. And sure, it does help some people. But even more people are helped by knee replacements. The success rate is very high.

I've had both a partial and total knee replacement after a lifetime of problems following an injury in my teens. I'm very happy with the results and would do it again in a heartbeat if my other knee ever needs to be replaced.
