Stage IV small cell - now terminal

Well, I've been through the chemotherapy and now the radiation since this monster has spread to my brain. I was told in April 2010 I was in remission. In October, while at my daughter's, she called 911 on me. Apparently I had had a stroke due to tumors on the brain and fluid. I was advised by my oncologist to begin radiation immediately which I did. So, after losing my hair and being tired for 15 treatments, the radiologist said there was nothing more to be done, as did my oncologist. I was told "it would be a surprise if I last 6 months." I did everything the doctors advised and what good did it do me. Within 6 months, I had gone from being in remission to terminally ill. I am most disappointed. I wish all of you with cancer a safe recovery. The radiation took my hearing so I lead a very lonely life since I can't hear. I am now staying with my daughter until time for hospice, which I don't plan to use until the very end. I certainly don't want my grandkids to see me in hospice care until the very end. So until then, I will laugh and love with my family. Good luck to all of you and God bless.

I am 49 and terminally ill they say, 3 lrg brain tumors with a dozen other tumors distroyed for now whole brain radiation, lung cancer and lymph node. the radiation really bothered my eyes. I hear loud locusts in my head a lot but I didn't wake up dead today....don't like the chemo,, they want to make me comfortable, no surgery.... I'll be going south to get warm , would love to talk to another terminal patient. I'll be back 2nd week of january.. Laura

Thanks for your input. Let me know when you get back. The radiation to my brain has caused loss of hearing. I feel so alone because I can't hear anything. So frustrating! Holler when you get back.

I understand where you are coming from. I am now 39 yrs old and was told in 2007 that there was a spot on my left lung and that they were gonna monitor it well it wasnt until 2010 it was followed up on i went to the dr complaining of shortness of breath and left shoulder pain a Intern on training sent me over for a chest xray and it was noted a change that intern sent me in for a biopsy and it came back non small cell cancer I was devistated when i was told and being only 37 yrs old i was shocked.it took a intern to do anything about a spot that was growing for years i was not happyy with my dr at all.well to make a long story short they removed my whole upper left lung because of there neglence.I had negative test results for a year then all of a sudden i was at stage 4 mind u all the test were negative for a year.explain how stage 1 can go to stage 4 with negative results ? I have done chemo after chemo and currently the cancer tumor is not active right now according to the test but the question is are they right this time ? and how long do I have left guess i wont know so i play it day by day and live day to day wondering is this gonna be my last day or is the next day gonna be my last and im only 39 yrs old and left wondering Is this the last day.
