Partial Remission

strachan58 posted:
Diagnoised with small cell lung cancer, stage 3A, right lung April of this year. After 3 rounds of chemo, and 25 radiation sessions, the CAT scan showed little change and surgery at that point would mean removing the entire lung. Needless to say I turned down that offer.

Now that I've completed 6 rounds of chemo, which had to be discontinued because it was hell on the WBC, and 37 sessions of radiation, which is the max, the PET scan shows little change. I was told I'm in partial remissiom, with residual activity in the lung.

Can someone explain, in layman's terms "partial remission". Thanks
